NSU, from Neckarsulm in Germany, made knitting machines, bicycles and motorcycles before it turned to cars. It is remembered for the small rear-engined Prinz and for the Wankel rotary engine of the Spider and Ro 80, and it merged with Auto Union in 1969 in the company that became Audi.
